William Blake was an English poet, painter, and printmaker. During his life, Blake's work was largely dismissed because many people thought he was mad. This was due to the fact that he saw the world very differently from the majority of people at that time. Nowadays, Blake is considered a groundbreaking, original pioneer in the history of the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age.
